Community Support
In recent years, the Scripps Estate has benefited from particular support from local cultural organizations.  This has included the Orion Historical Society, who initiated research and fund raising activities several years ago, as well as the Orion Art Center and more recently, the Paint Creek Center for the Arts.  In addition, the Oakland County Office of Art, Culture & Film has played a significant role in funding assistance that has brought local arts and the mansion together over the past several years.  Finally, the Orion Township Library has provided staffing support and research access to its historical collection, and the Oakland County Office of Planning and Economic Development Services has provided consultation and guidance in landscape and historic preservation of the site. We at the Scripps Estate wish to thank our many partners and hope to continue working collaboratively into the future.

Annual Fund-Raising Events
Since 2005, Guest House, Inc has worked with these organizations to help raise awareness—and access—of the public to the site. The annual Scripps Days: Arts Autos and Architecture has been successful in opening up the doors—and the possibilities—of this wonderful place.  In its first three years, approximately $40,000 was raised.  Among the first projects undertaken at the house has been the restoration of the stained glass, which was designed by the famous Detroit Stained Glass Works.

In 2008, the Friends kicked off a new annual literary event.  The first of its kind fund-raising dinner in April, 2008, featured reading performances of the work of Ernest Hemingway, with foods inspired by his novels, and browsing of the mansion and grounds.  A new theme and literary personality will be featured every year.
